Well, Well, Well... Wes Lee and I made it all the way to the Finals at the IBC with our duo Sweet ‘n’ Salty!!! That means we were in the top 8 of 91 solo/duo performers from around the world!! Kevin BF Burt took Home the win! He was awesome! And our friend, Daniel Eriksen made runner up! Wes and I would have liked to have won, of course, but we’re proud of our run and happy for all who made it to the finals! Well done!! All winners!!
How can you lose st this festival!! Hank is the king of the Delta, Turnip Greens, hot Tamales and about anything else!! He’s a Hamboner, a philosopher, and a great friend!
This festival has a morning Bike ride from Clarksdale to Dublin... around 20 miles round trip... live music with Bill Abel, Capt. Dirk, Cam Kimbrough and Yella P, Boyd and Evans, Wes Lee and myself, turnip Greens cookoff with hot water cornbread! Seriously... come on!!
The Blue Tavern! I can't wait to see this place completed!! I played there once before with Belmont and Jones, David Evans, and George Mitchell....before the place had opened! In fact, I think the ink on the paper of ownership wasn't quite dry!! Gonna be fun to be back in Florida!
Wes Lee and I decided to team up for the Mississippi Delta Blues Society of Indianola's Blues Challenge as a duo, Sweet 'n' Salty, and....Bingo... We took home the trophy!! Now on to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis January 2018!! Thanks Indianola!!!! Yay!!!! www.wesleemusic.com
The Deep Blues Festival is like no other! It's a heavy blues experience with 3 venues alternating the music! Shacksdale Motel has music during the day. The New Roxy and the Shack Up Inn share the night stages! You can see it all!!! Clarksdale, Ms y'all!!
When the festival is over and the crowds have moved on...Walker T. Ryan and I enjoy doing an acoustic blues show for the worn out locals! They've worked their butts off to make sure all visitors have a great time on their vacation! We thank you!!!
Our Sunday gigs here after a festival are some of the best times! You don't want to miss it!! I look forward to playing with this fellas on their annual, or biannual, visits! Cheep Beer too!!!
2 things on this day.....a Blues Symposium in the morning and a set at the Fest after lunch!! I haven't played this festival since 1994!! Really looking forward to returning!!
The Shack Up Inn, Clarksdale, MS!! Gonna be a FUN night with friends!!!
